Miniature Masterpieces

mini kids art made with liquid water colour paints

We love open-ended art projects but sometimes it's nice to add a few restrictions, I find this can really encourage an exploration of the materials provided. In this case we took inspiration from the beautiful ART WORKSHOP for CHILDREN book and created these mini works of art. The children were offered only 3 materials; small squares of water colour paper, liquid water colour paints and cotton buds (Q-tips). I love the beautiful artworks they created.

MATERIALS:

  • Water colour paper cut into 10cm squares
  • Liquid water colour paints
  • Cotton buds

HOW TO:

Set out a 'creative invitation' of materials and let your little ones get creative! If you find that your kids are just making a few marks and then moving onto the next piece of paper, you could invite them to fill the whole piece of paper with colour.

We added a drop sheet under our painting area as i find some liquid water colours can stain the table.
