With projects like these I like to set up a 'Creative Invitation'. If you're not familiar with the phrase, It’s when you set out interesting materials which are so enticing, they 'invite' children to come over and create. Typically, this is a simple set-up with no set instructions. It is child-led and open-ended, where there is no right or wrong way to be creative.
This PERFECT KIDS ART project is a simple open-ended drawing and painting project. The trick to giving the artwork that professional look is to stick painters tape around the edge of your paper to make a beautiful white boarder.
MATERIALS:
- Thick water colour paper
- Painters tape or masking tape
- Water colour paints
- Colour marker pens
- Wax crayons or oil pastels
HOW TO:
Tape the edge of your paper to the table and let your kids get creative. If you don't have any painters tape, regular masking tape will work too. Although masking tape can sometimes be a bit too sticky so a good trick to reduce the sticky-ness is to rub the sticky side of the tape across you clothes first picking up a little fluff/dust making the tape less sticky. Otherwise the tape can rip the paper when you remove the tape.
Set out all your art materials in an enticing way and let your little ones create.
Once the paintings and drawings are finished, allow the paint to dry and carefully remove the tape.
