I have been wanting to make story stones for ages with the kids. It's such a simple and fun way to engage their imagination and share a story together. If you're not familiar with the concept, it's very simple, you pick a stone out of the bag and use the picture one the stone to start a story. Then continue to pick stones and head on a magical adventure!
We chose to collage images from magazine onto our stones but you could also paint or draw your pictures. We chose quite random pictures but you could draw the characters from your favourite book to act it out.
MATERIALS: Nice smooth flat stones, pictures, glue (Modge Podge is best but we didn't have any so we used PVA glue which works just fine), scissors and a paint brush.
DIRECTIONS: Cut pictures from a magazine.
Liberally apply glue to your stone, stick on your image and cover the top of the paper with glue.
Once the glue has dried apply another layer of glue over the top to seal your images into the stones. Repeat 3-4 times.
Now begin to tell your story.....
