STORY STONES
I have been wanting to make story stones for ages with the kids. It's such a simple and fun way to engage their imagination and share a story together. If you're not familiar with the concept, it's very simple, you pick a stone out of the bag and use the picture on the stone as inspiration to begin telling a story. Then continue to pick stones and head on a magical story telling adventure!
We chose to collage images from a magazine onto our stones but you could also paint or draw your pictures. Another idea could be to draw the characters from your favourite story book to act it out.
MATERIALS:
- Nice smooth flat stones
- Magazine pictures
- Multi purpose glue
- Scissors
- Paint brush
HOW TO:
Cut lots of small pictures from a magazine.
Liberally apply glue to your stone, stick on your image and cover the top of the paper with more glue. We sell a fab multi purpose craft glue in our shop that is fantastic for this. It not only glues but an also be used to make a water resistant varnish over your images.
Once the glue has dried apply another layer of glue over the top to seal your images into the stones. Repeat 3-4 times.
Now begin to tell your story.....
