Pebble Friends
I feel like this art activity is as classic as they come. How many of us still have some painted pebbles that we made as kids? I know my parents still have a few treasured art creations from my childhood, including some painted pebbles, on their shelf at home.
I love the simplicity of the project, the open-ended nature and that the little pebble friends are so much fun to play with!
MATERIALS:
- Pebbles - nice round smooth ones are best
- Acrylic paints or paint markers
- Googly eyes (optional)
- Glue (you only need this if you are adding googly eyes)
For the ROCK HOTEL we used the following materials:
- Small cardboard boxes
- Cardboard tubes and rolls
- Paper cups
- Hot glue gun
- Paints
- Wooden craft sticks
HOW TO:
Using acrylic paints (or paint markers) decorate your pebbles to make fun faces. You could also try making pebble animals or monsters. Once the paint has dried, glue on googly eyes. I love how when you add googly eyes to pretty much anything it comes alive! If you don't have any googly eyes, just paint on your eyes instead.
Once we had made all our pebble friends, we decided they needed somewhere to live so we set about making them a hotel! Using small cardboard boxes, cardboard tubes and paper cups stacked on top of each other, we made all the rooms for the hotel.
Once the cardboard hotel construction was glued together we began work on painting and decorating all the rooms for the colouful ROCK HOTEL. Each of our pebble friends got a it's own room to live in.
