LEAF COLLAGE

leaf collage children's art project

Leaf rubbing is one of those classic projects we have all done. I remember projects we did at school where we had to explore the school grounds and find lots of different textures to make rubbings.

We them cut out our leaf rubbings and used them in lots of creative ways to make different collage artworks.

MATERIALS:

  • Wax crayons
  • A selection of different papers
  • Paper glue
  • Collage materials
  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Paints (optional)
  • Washi tape and stickers (optional)

HOW TO:

Place a textured leaf under a piece of paper and rub a wax crayon over the top creating a leaf pattern on the paper. Repeat the process creating lots of leaf rubbings. We then cut out our leaves and used them in lots of creative ways to make collage artworks.

My little one decided she wanted to paint some leaves too, so once they were dried we added them into our selection of materials to collage with.

This children’s craft idea features in Twinkl’s Absolutely Amazing Autumn Ideas.
