LEAF COLLAGE
Leaf rubbing is one of those classic projects we have all done. I remember projects we did at school where we had to explore the school grounds and find lots of different textures to make rubbings of. To create our leaf rubbings we used these natural bees wax crayon blocks from Okonorm, they are prefect for little hands to grip.
We them cut out our leaf rubbings and used them in lots of creative ways to make different collage artworks.
MATERIALS:
- Wax crayons - These crayon blocks are great for this project
- A selection of different papers
- Paper glue - We stock a great non-toxic, starch based paper glue in our shop
- Collage materials
- Cardboard
- Scissors
- Paints (optional)
- Washi tape and stickers (optional)
HOW TO:
Place a textured leaf under a piece of paper and rub a wax crayon over the top creating a leaf pattern on the paper. Repeat the process creating lots of leaf rubbings. We then cut out our leaves and used them in lots of creative ways to make collage artworks.
My little one decided she wanted to paint some leaves too, so once they were dried we added them into our selection of materials to collage with.
This children’s craft idea features in Twinkl’s Absolutely Amazing Autumn Ideas.
