Over the last few months I have gradually been putting together a selection of large parts for building with. If you go hunting in skips or on large rubbish collection days you can find some great things for free. We found plastic drain pipes, empty reels, foam, plastic bowls, crates and lots of wood which we cut into building blocks. These kind of open ended play activities are great for igniting the imagination and developing problem solving skills. I love that we can make creativity from reused waste!
MATERIALS:
- Plastic pipes
- Scrap wood
- Plastic crates and containers
- Reels, rope and string
- Pretty much anything interesting you can find!
HOW TO:
There are no instructions, we just have all these materials available for play in our back garden. Sometimes the kids will bring other toys like cars, diggers or animals to get creative with. i love how open-ended materials like these really spark a child's imagination.
