IMAGINARY MACHINES
This is one the the projects we tried from the awesome book DRAWING WORKSHOP for KIDS. We really love this fantastic book, through following some the thoughtful and beautiful projects in the book my kids (and myself) have really learnt so much and gained confidence in our drawing skills. Each of the three main chapters—drawing from life, drawing from images, and inventive drawing—focuses on techniques to explore, such as observation, mark making, shadow, line, composition, detail, contour, and perspective.
This project is from the 'inventive drawing' chapter. The idea is that you do observational drawings of household kitchen utensils, then cut and collage the drawings into imaginary machines. We went a step further and made some parts of our machines move using paper fasteners.
