COLLAGRAPH Printing
I have done lots of different block printing projects in the past with kids to create artworks, greeting cards and wrapping paper, however, I love the extra level of technique required and detail achieved in this collagraph project.
To create a collagraph printing block, you collage lots of different textured materials to create an image. We used a range of craft supplies and up-cycled materials to create all the textures in our prints. It takes a little time and thought to collage your printing block, thinking about how to create an image with lots of textures, but the results look really pretty.
MATERIALS:
- Thick card or MDF to make the base of your printing block
- PVA glue or hot glue
- A range of textured materials like foam sheets, corrugated cardboard, netting or string
- Acrylic printing inks
- A roller and flat surface to roll ink
- Paper
- A printing press (optional)
HOW TO:
Create your printing block using a range of textured materials. We used different size corrugated cardboard, sticky backed foam sheets and string. Cut and collage all the materials to create your image gluing everything into position on the printing block base.
