Collage Turtles

We love a collage art project, especially one that uses simple art supplies or up-cycled materials. I often keep the kids old paintings; one ones that are not precious, to cut up and reuse for collage. They can add some great pattern and textures to new artworks.

If you're interested in creating more fun and easy collage art with kids, try these collage birds, rainbows and houses. All the projects are really simple and just use old cardboard boxes, scraps of coloured papers and a few other bits and pieces.

MATERIALS:

• Thick corrugated card - an old cardboard box works well
• Coloured paper - You can cut up old paintings, magazines or any scraps of paper you have available
• Glue
• Scissors
• Oil pastels
• Paint
• Bubble wrap

DIRECTIONS:

Begin by cutting out your turtle bodies, head, legs and tails from thick cardboard; an old cardboard box works well. We make our turtles quite big with the largest measuring 50cm long, but any size will work.

Next, glue your turtles together and add a base colour with either paints or oil pastel.
