CARDBOARD BIRD WINGS
We love making our own fancy dress costumes, these wings made from a recycled cardboard box look so beautiful. You would make them into a great costume for book week or Halloween.
MATERIALS:
- Cardboard - old cardboard boxes work well
- Hot glue gun
- Tape
- Craft knife and scissors
- Elastic
- Paint to decorate (optional)
HOW TO:
Measure your wing span (i.e. how long your kids arms are when stretched out) and cut a long wing shape out of a length of cardboard to the same length. Then cut a smaller wing shape to go in the middle.
Attach your 2 wing shapes together using tape to make the base for your wings. Then add elastic shoulders straps and loops of card (or elastic) for the wrists. Secure the elastic in position on the other side using hot glue and a piece of cardboard.
Cut lots feather shapes from strips of cardboard using a craft knife or scissors.
Glue your feathers in place using hot glue, starting at the bottom of your wings and layering the feathers on top.
Then you can either leave your wings plain or decorate them with paint. We used paint stick to decorate ours.
