I was super excited to get my hands on a advance copy of Jean Van't Hul's new children's drawing activity book INVITATION TO DRAW: 99 Drawing prompts to inspire kids' creativity. If you're not familiar with Jean's work, she runs the fantastic ARTFUL PARENT blog and is a powerhouse of creativity. Her fantastic blog is FULL of the most awesome kids art and craft activities ideas.
Jean's new book INVITATION TO DRAW has 99 super simple and fun drawing prompts for kids. It's like a colouring in book but so much MORE AWESOME. The book provides simple creative prompts that will inspire your little artist to draw and colour their own pictures rather than just colouring in an a pretty picture.
This is my new favourite book to pop in my bag for the kids if we are going out for dinner. Here in South Australia, we are lucky enough not to be in lockdown and to be able to dine in restaurants and meet with friends. Last Friday after school, we met with a group of friends at a local restaurant for dinner and drinks. I popped the book on the table with colouring pencils, the kids happily played and drew together while I drank wine and chatted with friends. Win win. As a parent, I'm not sure what other endorsement you might need to get this book; IT ALLOWS YOU TO DRINK WINE AND CHAT WITH FRIENDS!
When we got home later that evening I had a look through the book, some of the drawings were hilarious! INVITATION TO DRAW has now become a favourite and currently lives on our craft table where my boy regularly pops back to the book and does a few more drawings.
