SEW A SOFTIE DINOSAUR
Recently we had the pleasure of being asked by Trixi of COLOURED BUTTONS BLOG to join in with her SEW A SOFTIE tutorial hop. The aim of SEW A SOFTIE is to inspire and encourage a new generation of children (and adults) to get sewing.
Here is the softie dinosaur we made and step by step photos of how we made him.
MATERIALS: Felt, embroidery thread, polyester stuffing, pins and a needle.
TUTORIAL: Draw your dinosaur shape on paper to make a template. I used an A3 piece of paper.
Cut your template out, draw around it onto your base fabric and cut out the fabric shape.
Now cut the legs and spikes off your dinosaur template just leaving the body shape. Draw around your body template on a different colour fabric and cut out.
Cut some spots out of a different colour felt to decorate your dinosaur.
Sew your spots into position using embroidery thread. I put a tiny dot of glue in the middle of each spot to hold them in position as my little one kept pricking his finger on the pins!
Pin the body shape to the base and sew around the edge with running stitch. Leave a hole at the bottom so you can stuff your softie.
Fill your softie and sew the hole closed. Add an eye and you are done. Now give your softie a cuddle!
