ROBOT COSTUME

DIY robot fancy dress costume made from cardboard boxes

We recently made this recycled robot fancy dress costume using the cardboard box from our WHO GIVES A CRAP toilet paper. If you're not familiar with Who Gives A Crap, they make fantastic tree friendly recycled toilet paper with no plastic packaging and their boxes are prefect for building stuff!

We love making our own recycled dress up costumes, this robot costume is pretty easy and super fun. If you don't have the same cardboard boxes, don't worry, just get creative with the materials you have available.

Before we get into the making, I wanted to THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for visiting MINI MAD THINGS. All the crafts I share here on the blog are pretty much just made for the love of making things with my children. Even if I didn't have a craft blog, we would still be happily making together around our kitchen table. It is just the icing on the cake that I can share our ideas with YOU through our website and INSTAGRAM page. I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have a business that I'm truly passionate about. So next time you are looking for a creative, thoughtful and eco-friendly gift for the little people in your life, it would be totally awesome if you could keep our range of fun kids CRAFT KITS, ART BOOKS and ECO ART SUPPLIES in mind. You can see our full range of MINI MAD THINGS products HERE.

MATERIALS:

  • Two cardboard boxes; one body size and one head size
  • Hot glue
  • Craft knife
  • Scissors
  • Items to decorate the robot like shiny foil, bottle tops, lids, paints, cardboard tubes etc.

HOW TO:

I'm afraid we were having so much fun building our robot that I forgot to take photos of the process! It's pretty simple; cut a head hole and arm holes in the body size box so it can go on over the head. Cut an eye hole in head size box and then have fun decorating the robot adding lots of buttons and other features.
