DIY felt garland decorations

A bi-product from making all our fun children's fancy dress costumes is that we have a lot scrap pieces of felt fabric. Not wanting to waste anything, we decided to make these pretty felt garland decorations for our Christmas tree. They would also be perfect decorations for a birthday party or celebration. If you don't have felt fabric you could get the same effect by using painted scraps of cardboard or coloured paper.

Threading exercises are always fantastic for developing fine motor skills and persistence in little ones. Please be careful when using small loose parts like beads with young children as they can be a choking hazard.

  • Felt
  • Wooden beads
  • Plastic Perler beads
  • Thread
  • Needle

Cut you felt scraps up into small shapes then begin threading them onto a string with a needle alternating with plastic and wooden beads.
